CMP's Impact Grant Fund

A membership-driven initiative to financially support documentary films and media.

Our goal is to further enable films to get made, and to help sustain the lives of more media-makers. To that end, our IGF Advisory Board will approve grants in three categories:

inaugural funding

2017 Winner: Kim Reed, Dark Money

These grants are awarded to projects that may not fit directly into one of our other funds, but we believe need to be supported

INNOVATION IN OUTREACH CAMPAIGN FUNDING

2017 Winner: Whitney Dow, Whiteness Project

These grants support innovative approaches to impact and outreach campaigns. We are interested in growing this area and supporting new approaches to the idea of outreach and engagement

EARLY STAGE FUNDING

2017 Winner: Jim LeBrecht, Crip Camp

These grants will provide early stage support to filmmakers producing trailers and fundraising media, and to cover critical production shoots

FILMMAKER SUSTAINABILITY FUNDING

2017 Winner: Elaine Sheldon

These grants acknowledge the personal sacrifices non-fiction filmmakers must make to sustain their creative lives. Earmarked specifically for filmmakers independent of a particular project, these grants provide unrestricted assistance to filmmakers who are telling the critical stories of our time

Our first grants were announced at CMP's Impact Grant Fund dinner during our second annual documentary festival, DOC10, March 30 - April 2nd in Chicago.

Each of these grants come with mentoring and guidance support from CMP staff and its members, and awarded filmmakers will be invited to share their work at one of our Big Table Dinners whereby they can meet our members during their funding year.
