This fall we're all about maximizing impact through strategic partnerships. For our November screening we're partnering with David Weinberg Photography and The Center on Halsted as part of a larger series of events, film screenings, and interdisciplinary art exhibitions exploring trans identity and representation called TRANS/FLUENT. On November 19th we're proud to welcome back GPC15 alum Sharon Shattuck with her film From This Day Forward. The evening screening will feature an introduction from Ci3 Director Brandon Hill and a conversation following the film between director Sharon Shattuck and subject Trisha Shattuck, moderated by our own Paula Froehle.
From This Day Forward is a moving portrayal of an American family coping with one of the most intimate of transformations. When director Sharon Shattuck’s father came out as transgender and changed her name to Trisha, Sharon was in the awkward throes of middle school. Her father’s transition to female was difficult for her straight-identified mother, Marcia, to accept, but her parents stayed together. As the Shattucks reunite to plan Sharon’s wedding, she seeks a deeper understanding of how her parents’ marriage survived the radical changes that threatened to tear them apart.
This event is open to CMP members and invited guests.
