The Kitchen Table Mission:
To harness the power of media
to raise awareness
and to amplify efforts
to improve the lives of women and children worldwide.
When I was young, the place the women gathered to discuss issues of the day and to solve problems was always around the kitchen table – usually accompanied by a “bourbon and coke” or “whiskey and smokes” (it was the 1960’s after all). I’d hide out underneath, listening intently to the conversation and wishing for this experience - and wisdom - when I got older.
In honor of all groups of strong-minded women gathering somewhere in the world to converse and to solve problems, I'm celebrating the launch of The Kitchen Table, Chicago Media Project’s initiative focused on developing media addressing women’s issues (and therefore, by proximity, the rest of the world).
