Marching from the U.N. to Times Square, Sunday's demonstrators were national, international, multiethnic, multi-gender, old and young, tall and small. When I was young, the place the women gathered to discuss issues of the day and to solve problems was always around the kitchen table – usually accompanied by a “bourbon and coke” or “whiskey and smokes” (it was the 1960’s after all). I’d hide out underneath, listening intently to the conversation and wishing for this experience - and wisdom - when I got older.

In honor of all groups of strong-minded women gathering somewhere in the world to converse and to solve problems, I'm celebrating the launch of The Kitchen Table, Chicago Media Project’s initiative focused on developing media addressing women’s issues (and therefore, by proximity, the rest of the world).

The Hunting Ground premieres!

Paula Froehle

From the team behind THE INVISIBLE WAR, comes a startling exposé of sexual assault on U.S. campuses, institutional cover-ups and the brutal social toll on victims and their families. Weaving together verité footage and first-person testimonies, the film follows survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice — despite harsh retaliation, harassment and pushback at every level.
