On November 17th our Chicago community came together once again to show this city's love of great documentary filmmaking.
CMP's Pitch + Cocktails night gave a platform to three fantastic filmmakers to pitch their projects to a room full of supporters, and the response was incredible.
Together, we raised $10,000 for these films in one night, allowing CMP to announce three grants to the film teams. Together, we gave:
- $5,000 to Showgirls of Pakistan
- $3,000 to The Feeling of Being Watched
- $2,000 to Mothers For Justice
Each pitch was passionate, articulate, and brave, showcasing the dedication these filmmakers have to tell the important and difficult stories of our time. We were so proud of each of them, and so proud of the collective goodwill of our community that allowed us to offer generous grants from our pooled donations.
The best news is, YOU can continue to follow along with these films and fund their goals through the new app CMP unveiled last night: imPact.
imPact is CMP's crowdfunding app for films that allows you to learn more about new projects, get updates on their progress, and chip in to show your enthusiasm for films you love. As we saw last night, when everyone in our community gives just a little bit, it can add up to a significant gift for the independent storytellers who need our support now more than ever.
We're excited to share the app with you today, so DOWNLOAD it for free from iTunes or Google Play and DONATE to the films that speak to you.
There you can also stay tuned for announcements about our next CMP events, including our second Pitch + Cocktails event in 2017 as part of DOC10.
We all had a great time last night, and can't wait to invite you to the next one next spring!
